Taxes appeared to be the main issue on voters’ minds in making their choices for the council.
Teaneck Suburbanite questioned voters about issues outside of three polling places, on American Legion Drive, DeGraw Avenue and Tryon Avenue.
"Taxes are too high," said a Highwood Place resident. "I want to continue to live in town as a single parent with two children. I don’t want to be squeezed out."

The 15 township teenagers who met at the Rodda Center on May 7 come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are black. Some wear yarmulkes. What they all have in common is the desire to represent the interests of young people in the township.
The teenagers are members of the council’s Youth Advisory Board, which was organized in June 2007. Any township teenager attending eighth through 12th grade is eligible to apply for membership.
